Now as the rest of the nation is anxiously watching the Presidential Election come down to a 7,647 vote margin that hinges on Las Vegas, I feel comfort in knowing that I was able to help mobilize my community. For those of you who are new here, welcome to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada.
You voted, but has your vote counted?
There has been record early voting turnout ahead of the 2020 election, but millions of ballots are in danger of being rejected because of small discrepancies or mistakes. Rejected ballots belong disproportionately to minority and newly-registered voters. When the stakes of this election are so high, here is what you need to do to ensure that your ballot is counted.
Mail-in voting anxiety
Presidential elections are historically surrounded by a certain level of anxiety or uncertainty—the 2020 election is especially layered, since it coincides with the COVID-19 pandemic. Fears and uncertainties about mail-in voting are not unfounded, so what can we do as voters to make sure we don’t have to choose between civic engagement and staying safe during this pandemic?
